Our Values and Commitments
As individuals and an organisation, we strive to make a positive impact on all our members and the wider rugby community.
We expect all members to act with integrity, decency and courtesy at all time to each other and all stakeholders. Treat others as you would expect to be treated at all times.
No one should ever be made to feel unsafe or uncomfortable at society engagements.
The society does not tolerate any discriminatory language or behaviours that may be interpreted as offensive, intimidating or belittling. Especially concerning – but not limited to – gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or age.
All members have a responsibility to report actions or behaviours that fall short of these standards. If something does not feel right, speak up. You have a right to anonymity and you will be supported in full, without judgement or prejudice.
The society management will investigate all reported incidents. Any members found to be in breach of our core values face disciplinary action and potential exclusion on a temporary or permanent basis.
Diversity & Inclusion
Our greatest strength is the talent, experiences, outlooks and backgrounds of all our members. Who you are, defines who we are.
The society actively promotes – and where appropriate positively discriminates – for a diverse and varied membership. Furthermore, we have a clear obligation to educate all our members on attitudes, behaviours and language that promote inclusivity and avoids any form of discrimination.
We continue to develop initiatives and support networks to promote membership from across society, outside of our traditional base demographic. At the heart of this is a clear goal to increase membership and participation from currently underrepresented sections of society, including females, the LGBTQ+ community and minority ethnic groups.
As per our stated Values & Commitments, we do not tolerate any discriminatory language or behaviours that may be interpreted as offensive, intimidating or belittling. Especially concerning – but not limited to – gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or age. Any such instance must be reported and will be investigated in full via disciplinary mechanisms.
As a society we are committed to continual improvement in this area - working with support from relevant community & national organisations – and welcome stakeholder feedback on how we can do more.
Reporting Incidents
In the first instance, members and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any specific incidents – or concerns – regarding behaviours and/or actions contrary to the society’s stated values and commitments to their Regional Manager or the Premier List Manager.
If deemed not appropriate, or for incidents of a potentially serious nature, such instances should be reported to one – or all – of the President, Deputy President and/or General Secretary.
Alternatively, incidents can be reported via values@londonrugby.com. Unless explicitly waived, all reported incidents or concerns will be treated confidentially, with no names or identifying details shared.
