Please see the following update from the LSRFUR General Secretary, Peter Coulthard.
As you may have seen, the RFU have announced in the last few hours that all rugby, which includes matches, training and education courses, are to be suspended until 14 April 2020, subject to further review. However, in addition to this, a number of 7s tournaments (including the National Schools, Bournemouth and Middlesex) have already been postponed, and there is an expectation that further ones will follow.
I am sure this will not come as a surprise to many of you, but is the nature of the times that we are in and the current broader developing situation. To the extent further updates are received, we will as a Society communicate them to you as promptly as possible. In light of the above and broader government guidance, the April General Meeting has been postponed indefinitely. No posts up for election were contested, and I will confirm those who stood (and will therefore be considered duly elected) in due course. The proposed changes to the Constitution (that I have previously communicated) will not be effective until they can be voted upon at a General Meeting, as required by the Constitution. Again, as things become clearer, we will keep you updated on any rescheduled date for this meeting.
Finally, I am also aware that various end of season dinners are planned within Regions. I know the Regional Managers and Regional Committees are keeping an eye on developments, and will undoubtedly be in touch as things progress. Should you have any questions in relation to the above, or anything more broadly, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me, or anyone else on the Management or Regional Committees. Rugby and LSRFUR is a big family, and over the coming days, weeks and months, please do remember that there are many people who are a phone call, email or text away, should you ever need.
