Deaths of Members

The following - regretful - tribute is provided on behalf LSRFUR Management Committee

We are sad to have to inform you of the death of 3 members and past members of the Society in the last month, and as a Society we pass on our condolences to their respective families.

Johnny Johnson was a former London Society member who was a leading referee for almost a decade in the 1960s and 70s, refereeing a number of Internationals in that period. He was recently presented his International Cap by RFU President Jeff Blackett who personally visited him in Scotland to do so, and more about Johnny and that presentation can be read on the Society website.

Jim Taylor was an advisor known to many across the Society, having watched referees across the Premier List and the West Region over many years. He was fondly remembered by the many individuals with whom he interacted with over his many years with the Society who appreciated his time, warmth and genuine manner in his approach to everything.

Derek ‘Del’ Clark, an ex-member of the West and South West regions also passed away recently, following a short illness. His funeral is later this month, and those who might wish to attend, please do get in touch with Gary Dibden for further details.
